Forever in My Heart: A Promise Ring Story

The popularity of a ring dates back to the ancient times. Initially, ancient Romans were the first ones to exchange rings to express a form of commitment and mutual trust between lovers and close friends. But when it comes to the Promise ring, European traditions play a vital role in bringing them to life. The Promise ring we know today evolved over centuries. During the 16th century, the Gimmel ring was used as a Promise ring. A Gimmel ring is a set of two interconnected bands that can be worn separately by each individual and joined to form a complete ring. This ring has become a symbol of love and promise between two lovers. During the 17th and 18th centuries, Promise rings were used to depict emotion instead of commitment or engagement. During the 19th century, the diamonds were mined, and the ‘Kohinoor’ diamond was decorated in Queen Victoria’s crown.
