I recently traveled through Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and my experience was mostly positive. I arrived at the McNamara Terminal, which is modern, clean, and well-organized. Checking in was smooth, and the TSA line moved fairly quickly, though it was a bit busy during peak hours. The staff was professional and efficient, making the process stress-free.
Once through security, I had time to explore. The airport offers plenty of seating areas with charging stations, and the free Wi-Fi worked well. I grabbed a bite at one of the many dining options—there’s a great mix of national chains and local favorites. I tried Zingerman’s and was impressed with the quality of the food.
One of the highlights of McNamara Terminal is the indoor tram that runs across the terminal, making it easy to get to my gate. My flight was on time, and the boarding process was well-organized.
The only downside was the traffic outside the airport—it took longer than expected to get dropped off due to congestion. Overall, DTW is a well-maintained, efficient airport with great amenities, and I’d definitely recommend it for a smooth travel experience.
