Black Opals are the rarest type of opals, and most of the supply of Black Opals comes only from one region, which is the Lightning Ridge region. The geological conditions that are required for the formation of these gemstones are unique and they cannot be easily replicated, which is why there is a finite supply of this gemstone. This is one of the main reasons why Black Opal Rings are highly valued. Also, as a side note, we would like to mention that once the existing deposits of Black Opals are depleted, new ones may take eons to form, thus making the gemstone increasingly scarce over time.
