This gemstone was discovered by the workers of New Jersey Zinc Exploration Co. Ltd. in the Gaspe Peninsula which is located in Quebec, Canada. Although we should thank Canada for this important stone, yet, there are other stones as well that are mined in Canada – for instance, labradorite, ammolite, and the rarest of all, poudretteite. The reason why gaspeite rings are growing in popularity these days is because gaspeite is a pretty rare stone and more and more people are becoming aware of this.
