Dissimilar to numerous different gemstones that have existed for a really long time, Tanzanite’s history is quite modern. The story traces back in 1967 when the gem was first founded by a prospector named Manuel D’souza on the Mount Kilimanjaro. A few dark blue stones were mistakenly thought to be sapphires shining in the sunlight, but actually, they were Tanzanite. As per the legends, the Masai herders originally found the stone when a lightning strike made the encompassing field to catch a fire, and they tracked down the gem, Tanzanite.
